Am n\u00e4chsten Tag a\u00dfen unsere &#8218;w\u00e4hlerischen&#8216; Matrosen, von Hunger getrieben, die Zubereitung und stellten zu ihrem Erstaunen fest, dass sie k\u00f6stlich, knusprig und gut gesalzen war. Aus der Not eine Tugend! Zur\u00fcck an Land, dachten die Genueser daran, ihre zuf\u00e4llige Entdeckung zu verbessern, indem sie das P\u00fcree in speziellen Kupferpfannen im Ofen kochten und es gegen eine angemessene Geb\u00fchr verkauften. Der Kichererbsenbrei war sehr beliebt und wurde, um die Besiegten zu verspotten, in den ersten Jahrzehnten des 14.
