This week, we tell you about a beautiful initiative that will take place in Finalborgo on March 3, of which our Pesto Fresco will be a sponsor: The Trail of the Marquisate.
The Trail del Marchesato is a competitive trail running event that takes place on Sunday, March 3, in Finalborgo, in a part of the Ermano Fossati Permanent Trail .
The competition covers a technical course of 38 km and 2,200 meters of positive elevation gain or 16 km for 1,000 meters in a geographical area recognized as a Outdoor Capital of the World.
What is Trail Running?
Trail running is a running specialty that is mainly practiced on mountain trails and mule tracks, which in the wonderful area of the Finale area is even more impressive.

Trail running enthusiasts who March 3 will participate in the Trail of the Marchesato They will run in a spectacular environment. Starting from Finalborgo, among Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, will run a loop made up of steep climbs, technical descents, fixed-rope passages, passages inside a cave and even inside the medieval Castle of Finalborgo.

The Trail of the Marquis takes place on the Finalese trail named after Ermano Fossati, who was an Expert Foreman of the Finale Ligure Fire Department Detachment. He died in 2010 while on duty on the Melogno Pass, which is why the entire event is dedicated to him, as is the trail that will be covered.
Both the Fire Department and all the rescue associations in our area will be present, and they will work together to make this challenging competition safe in all respects.

All proceeds from this highly spectacular and fun-filled competitive eventare donated to two Ligurian area nonprofits, Find the Cure Italia and Bastapoco.
Find the Cure Italia Onlus, based in Ceriale (Savona, Italy) is a nonprofit international cooperation association that develops and carries out projects in areas with a low level of development.
Specifically, it provides aid from the medical-health sphere in the poorest areas of the world that are not yet supported by humanitarian cooperation projects, making direct contact with the local population.
Bastapoco Onlus, based in Albenga (Savona), is an association of volunteers that offers concrete support to people in an advanced state of illness and their families.
It provides free medical equipment to support home hospitalization, patient care and psychological support.
Bastapoco collaborates with Asl 2 in the Andorese and Finale area with the aim of improving the quality of life of patients and spreading awareness of the right to palliative care.
