We support the nomination of the pesto preparation method as an intangible heritage of humanity!
From March 12 to 18, Liguria will be colored green-basilico with Pesto Week, culminating on Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18, with collective “pounding” in the squares of many Ligurian municipalities, gastronomic flash mobs and the World Pesto al Mortaio Championship.
During the collective pounding in the squares, signatures will be collected to support the candidacy of pesto al mortaio as a UNESCO heritage site. There will also be numerous celebrities who will lend a hand, becoming “Pestimonal” for the occasion .
We can all be Pesto Pestimonials by posting our photos on social media with the hashtag #orgogliopesto.

The event is open to everyone, adults and children. A kit from the Region of Liguria will be provided with the products needed to make pesto. Participants will only need to bring their own mortar from home.
