What is Liguria Gourmet

Liguria Gourmet is the geographical collective brand (mcg) for Ligurian catering designed, registered and guaranteed by the Liguria Region and the Ligurian Chamber System, aimed at the enhancement and protection of the excellence and typicality of local gastronomy, certifying the “True Liguria on the Plate.

The Liguria Gourmet mark is issued by the relevant Chamber of Commerce to restaurants that undertake to apply the provisions of the Regulations of Use.
These Regulations guarantee the origin and quality of dishes made according to the recipes of the ancient Ligurian tradition and prepared with the certified products of the area.

Liguria Gourmet is a project with several goals:

  • Promote and enhance typical regional quality and fine dining
  • Distinguish regional catering in a special way, including by means of a certification system, guaranteed by appropriate inspection bodies
  • Protecting the food and wine tradition of Liguria
  • Informing and assuring consumers about the characteristics of the food and wine tradition and agri-food products administered
  • Promoting gastronomic tourism in our beloved region.

The Restaurants of the Liguria Gourmet circuit

Restaurants in the Liguria Gourmet circuit enhance their recipes through the use of products listed in theRegionalAtlasof Traditional Products.
This is updated annually by the Ministry of Agricultural Policy.
They also undertake to use a rich variety consisting of more than 300 products selected by the Technical Project Committee.
These products include local meats, condiments, cheeses, vegetable products, fresh pasta and bakery products, biscuits, seafood products, liquors and more.
Ligurian PDO and PGI wines are also included, guaranteeing at least 4 labels, chosen from those listed in the regional PDO-PGI wine list.
They useDOP “Riviera Ligure” extra virgin olive oil as a dressing and, as for our beloved Pesto Genovese, they use exclusively DOP Genovese Basil, faithfully respecting the traditional recipe.

Liguria Gourmet and traditional products

Liguria Gourmet restaurants offer a typical regional menu daily, specially designed with traditional Ligurian dishes.
The menu includes at least four typical Ligurian specialties, including at least one first course and one second course, from among those on the list of traditional dishes identified by the Technical Committee.
The complete list of dishes consists of Ligurian specialties among more than 25 appetizers, more than 45 entrees and condiments, more than 50 main courses, about 20 side dishes, and 30 desserts.
